Brussels, April 2006

Ah Belgium. Land of the many tasty tasty beers, chocolates, waffles, and the ubiquitous moules frites (mussels and fries). All the food sophistication of the French with the hospitality and sense of humour of the Dutch. What's not to like? Marcelle drinking beer. Me drinking beer. Belgium is also the home of the headquarters of the European Union, which just happened to be right next to our hotel in Brussels. tout le monde aime les moules frites. As the saying goes, you're never far from a chocolate shop in Brussels... actually I made that up. Day-trip to Bruges, a popular tourist mecca for its quaint pseudo-country town feel, and picturesque back streets. Just make sure to take cash out before going there because there's only like 1 ATM in town, and it's like lining up for the Eiffel tower in summer. After a hard day's ATM lining up, it's time for more food!
